Slovenian cyclists see Vuelta success and recovery updates

Following the conclusion of the Vuelta a España, Slovenian cyclists have seen significant shifts in both race results and global rankings. Primož Roglič secured second place in the general classification, finishing behind winner Enric Mas. Despite facing preparation challenges following a previous collision, Roglič expressed satisfaction with his performance, viewing the podium as a victory.

Jakob Omrzel also achieved notable success, finishing seventh in the general classification and climbing 114 places in the UCI world rankings. These results have bolstered Slovenia's position in the international cycling standings.

Meanwhile, Tadej Pogačar, who was forced to end his season early due to a severe crash during the Vuelta, has begun his rehabilitation. Two weeks after sustaining a concussion, a fractured clavicle, and a cervical vertebra fracture, Pogačar has returned to indoor training on a stationary bike. While he will miss the remainder of the 2026 season, including the World Championships, his team, UAE Team Emirates-XRG, is managing a progressive recovery aimed at a 2027 return.
