Prince Akishino and Princess Kako to visit Aomori

Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko, along with their daughter Princess Kako, are scheduled to visit Aomori Prefecture in connection with the 2026 Aomori National Sports Festival and Para Sports Festival.

Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko will visit the prefecture for two days on October 22 and 23. This marks their first joint visit to the region in 15 years, since visiting the areas affected by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. During their stay, they plan to visit the Aomori Prefectural Museum of Art and attend an event to encourage the prefectural delegation for the Para Sports Festival.

Princess Kako will visit for four days, spanning October 19, 20, 24, and 25. This will be her first visit to the prefecture. Her itinerary includes spectating both the National and Para Sports festivals, participating in an apple harvesting experience at Hirosaki City's Apple Park, and inspecting the Sannai-Maruyama Site Center in Aomori City.
