Prince George plane crash kills mother of two during emergency landing

A twin-engine Beech King Air 200 aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing on Foothills Boulevard in Prince George, British Columbia, after losing power in one engine. The aircraft, which was carrying six passengers and two crew members, collided with four vehicles during the descent. While all eight people on board the plane were unharmed, the incident resulted in the death of Alex Garneau, a mother of two.

Garneau was traveling in one of the vehicles struck by the plane. Her daughter, who was also in the vehicle, survived the crash. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has taken over the investigation into the cause of the engine failure.

Local communities have responded with significant support for Garneau’s family. She was a well-known figure in the Prince George sports community, serving as an athlete, coach, and volunteer for various organizations, including the Cariboo Cougars and the Prince George Youth Volleyball Club. A GoFundMe campaign established for her husband and children has surpassed $120,000.
