Prince George aircraft emergency landing accident

Overview

On August 20, 2026, a Sekani Air Ltd. Beechcraft King Air 200 performed an emergency landing on Foothills Boulevard in Prince George, British Columbia. The aircraft, which was carrying passengers from various mineral exploration companies including Evergold Corp., collided with vehicles during the landing.

Initial reports indicated that one person died at the scene and one driver sustained minor injuries. While the passengers and crew on board the aircraft were reported safe, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada launched an investigation into the cause of the incident.

Subsequent reports identified the deceased as Alex Garneau, a local community volunteer and mother of two. The Transportation Safety Board noted that the aircraft appeared to have lost power in one engine. While those on board the plane were uninjured, the collision resulted in the death of Garneau and left two other individuals in stable condition at a hospital.

New details confirm the aircraft was carrying six passengers and two crew members. Garneau was traveling in one of the vehicles struck by the plane; her daughter, who was also in the vehicle, survived the collision.

Garneau was a prominent figure in the Prince George sports community, having served as an athlete, coach, and volunteer for organizations such as the Cariboo Cougars and the Prince George Youth Volleyball Club. In response to the tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign for her husband and children has surpassed $120,000 as local communities offer support.
