Prince George RCMP arrest investigation finds no police wrongdoing

The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) has concluded its investigation into an incident in Prince George involving a man who sustained serious injuries during an arrest by the RCMP.

The investigation focused on an event on April 25, 2025, where a man experiencing what appeared to be a psychotic episode caused disturbances at a gas station and attempted to enter vehicles. Witnesses reported the man was shouting, acting erratically, and appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

According to the IIO report, CCTV footage and officer observations showed the man was sweating, delirious, and pacing erratically. The investigation found no evidence of police wrongdoing during the encounter, which included a brief struggle before additional officers arrived on the scene.
