Prince Harry avoided security as a child, former butler claims

Former royal butler Grant Harrold has shared recollections of Prince Harry attempting to evade his security detail as a child. Harrold stated that the young royal would often try to ‘escape’ by wandering behind buildings to avoid protection officers.

These comments emerge as Prince Harry continues to advocate for taxpayer-funded security for himself, Meghan Markle, and their children. Royal expert Jennie Bond noted that Harry’s use of private jets could potentially undermine his legal arguments for state-funded protection, as such displays of wealth might suggest he possesses the means to afford substantial private security. Bond added that while Harry has offered to pay, the Metropolitan Police cannot be ‘hired’ for such services, and he continues to seek the armed protection that private bodyguards cannot provide in the UK.
