Prishtina Court denies detention for five misuse of office suspects

The Basic Court in Prishtina has rejected a prosecution request to detain five individuals suspected of the joint criminal offense of “misuse of position or official authority.” The suspects, identified by the initials G. Z., A. G., L. M., D. G., and E. A., are accused of involvement in a case involving the suspected damage of property valued at 1.5 million.

Instead of pretrial detention, the court imposed restrictive measures effective from September 8 to October 8, 2026. These measures include a prohibition from approaching the Fushë Kosovë Municipality within a distance of 200 meters and a requirement to report to a police station monthly. The court noted that these measures are sufficient to ensure the criminal procedure proceeds without interference, but warned that failure to comply could result in the imposition of pretrial detention.
