Property fraud investigation in Prishtina

Overview

In Prishtina, authorities launched an investigation into a suspected 1.5 million euro property fraud in Fushë Kosovë. Five individuals were arrested for allegedly abusing their official positions to provide fraudulent ownership documents for a 2-hectare plot.

Following the initial arrests, the Basic Court in Prishtina denied the prosecution’s request to detain the five suspects, identified by their initials, for the suspected joint criminal offense of “misuse of position or official authority.”

The court instead imposed restrictive measures effective from September 8 to October 8, 2026. These measures include a requirement for the suspects to report to a police station monthly and a prohibition from approaching the Fushë Kosovë Municipality within 200 meters. The court stated these measures were sufficient to ensure the criminal procedure proceeds without interference, though it warned that failure to comply could lead to pretrial detention.
