Italy security workers face rising violence in multiple incidents
A series of violent incidents across Italy has highlighted growing concerns regarding the safety of public service workers and security personnel.
In Calabria, 34-year-old security worker Antonio Perrotta died following a brawl at a nightclub in Sangineto. The Associazione Italiana Sicurezza Sussidiaria has called for legislative changes to grant security staff the status of public service officials to ensure better legal protection.
In Abruzzo, a 50-year-old man, Diomede Branchesi, remains in critical condition in a coma after being punched by a 19-year-old while attempting to intervene in a dispute in Fossacesia.
Other reported incidents include an assault on a prison officer in Reggio Emilia by an inmate, an attack on an ambulance crew in Pescara, and a violent outburst at a medical emergency center in Bagheria. These events have prompted calls from local officials and unions for increased security measures and state support for frontline workers in high-risk environments.
