Pristina construction site accident kills worker, injures another

A construction site on Holger Petersen Road in Pristina belonging to the company Asllani Brothers suffered a collapse of a crane while a winch was being installed. One worker died after being taken to the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (QKUK), and a second worker sustained severe injuries but remained in stable condition at the same hospital.

Emergency responders – the professional fire and rescue brigade, Kosovo Police, medical emergency teams and a rapid‑reaction safety unit – arrived quickly and secured the area. The Central Labour Inspection of Kosovo said the site had not been inspected previously because work was in the early foundations stage. Kosovo Police, together with the State Prosecutor, have opened an investigation into the causes of the accident.

Mayor Perparim Rama and the Pristina municipality expressed condolences to the victim’s family and urged stricter enforcement of workplace safety standards. The Asllani Brothers construction firm is owned by businessman Qazim Asllanaj.
