Dominican Republic economy sees record FDI and international growth recognition

The Dominican Republic is experiencing significant economic activity across several sectors. ProDominicana has received the 2026 Caribbean Award for Outstanding Contribution to Sustainable Economic Growth from Capital Finance International. This recognition follows a record-breaking year in 2025, where foreign direct investment (FDI) exceeded US$5,000 million, marking an 11.3% year-on-year increase.

In the industrial sector, the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) and Forbes RD recently held a forum to discuss transforming the nation from an investment destination into a productive platform. Discussions focused on leveraging FDI to strengthen local production through infrastructure, legal security, and digital transformation.

International trade continues to expand through strategic initiatives, such as an Argentine commercial mission to Santo Domingo. This mission, involving 17 companies, focuses on technology, software, marketing, and communication services to establish new business ties in the Dominican market. Additionally, the agribusiness sector remains a vital economic pillar, functioning as a complex value chain that connects agricultural production with international markets, with the sector's real value added increasing by 5.4% in 2025.
