Profeco issues consumer guidance for Buen Fin 2026

Mexico's Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) has issued warnings and recommendations ahead of the Buen Fin 2026 shopping event, scheduled from November 13 to November 17. The agency cautioned consumers against impulsive spending, noting that without a budget, the promotional period can lead to significant financial debt.

To assist shoppers, Profeco recommends creating two distinct lists: one for essential needs and another for non-essential wants. Consumers are encouraged to use the agency’s digital tool, ‘Quién es Quién en los Precios’, to compare historical and current prices across various categories, including electronics, appliances, and household goods, to identify genuine discounts.

Key advice includes establishing spending limits, reviewing interest-free installment plans carefully, and verifying warranty and return policies before completing purchases. The agency emphasizes that comparing prices across different establishments and brands is vital to avoiding deceptive offers.
