Mexico preparations for El Buen Fin 2026

Overview

As Mexico prepares for the 16th edition of the El Buen Fin shopping event, scheduled for November 13 to 17, 2026, authorities and business chambers are coordinating to manage economic impact and consumer protection. The Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco Servytur) projects a national economic impact of approximately 235 billion pesos, representing a 7.3% increase over the previous year. Approximately 200,000 businesses are expected to participate, with 79% of sales occurring in physical stores and 21% through digital channels. Key product categories expected to drive demand include fashion, electronics, beauty and personal care, appliances, and mobile phones. Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), which constitute 99% of the country's economic units, remain a primary focus of the campaign.

Regional projections include an anticipated 30 billion pesos in the State of Mexico and 12.5 billion pesos in the Valle de Toluca. In Irapuato, local business leaders project revenue of up to 1.2 billion pesos. To incentivize participation and commercial formality, the Tax Administration Service (SAT) has announced a 500-million-peso prize pool for a raffle on December 4, 2026. This includes 400 million pesos for consumers making purchases of at least 250 pesos via card, and 100 million pesos for participating micro and small businesses that register by November 12.

In response to the upcoming event, the LXVI Legislature of the State Congress of Oaxaca has approved an exhortation to the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco). The legislature urged Profeco to strengthen price monitoring and deploy special verification operations to ensure promotions are real and clear. This measure seeks to prevent the use of artificial reference prices and misleading advertising to protect the economy of Oaxacan families.
