Mexico rolls out free school supplies and fairs for 2026‑2027 start
State governments and consumer agencies across Mexico are launching a series of back‑to‑school programmes for the 2026‑2027 school year. In Tamaulipas, the state education secretariat will distribute free kits worth 477‑735 pesos per student, allowing families to save up to 2,200 pesos for three children. Mexico City’s SECTEI will provide electronic vouchers of up to 1,180 pesos for uniforms and supplies to public‑school students. The Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) is organising 55 fairs nationwide; in Puebla and Tehuacán the fairs will run from late July to early September, offering discounted supplies, free health checks, legal advice and workshops on household‑technology DIY. Aguascalientes will host a fair until 1 August at the Centro de Artes Visuales, while Torreón’s Canaco‑Torreón fair offers 10‑30 % discounts on a wide range of school items and prizes of mobile devices. The Chetumal‑Tulum Chamber of Commerce will hold an Expo Regreso a Clases with voucher redemption and cultural activities. Across the country, these initiatives aim to reduce the financial burden on families, promote informed consumption and support local retailers.
