Profeco reports lower basic basket prices in Puebla and Acapulco

Mexico's Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) released a price comparison for the 24 products comprising the Package Against Inflation and Scarcity (PACIC) basket. Based on monitoring conducted from September 14 to 18, the agency reported that prices vary significantly depending on the retailer and specific items.

In Puebla, specific locations were identified as offering the basic basket below the national average of 910 pesos. The Mega Soriana in Plaza San Pedro offers the 24 products for 809 pesos, while the Walmart in Nueva Antequera offers them for 850 pesos. Nationally, the cheapest full basket was found at a Mega Soriana in Acapulco, Guerrero, priced at 739.90 pesos.

Profeco utilized a color-coded system to help consumers identify the most economical options. The agency noted that no single commercial chain offers the lowest price for every item, as the most affordable costs fluctuate by product.
