Progress Party leads Conservative Party in Norwegian polls
Recent political polling in Norway shows the Progress Party (FrP) maintaining a significant lead over the Conservative Party (Høyre). For the third consecutive month, the Progress Party, led by Sylvi Listhaug, has remained the largest party with approximately 30.2 percent of the vote.
In contrast, the Conservative Party, led by Ine Eriksen Søreide, holds roughly 15 percent of the vote. Despite Søreide taking a more assertive stance on several issues following the summer break, political analysts note that an ‘Ine-effect’ has not yet materialized in terms of voter growth. Instead, the party appears to be facing a squeeze, losing voters to both the Labor Party and the Progress Party.
A point of contention between the parties involves fuel taxes. Søreide has clarified that the Conservatives will not support an extension of tax cuts on pump prices, a position that has drawn criticism from some within her own party and from opponents who argue the stance favors the wealthy over ordinary citizens.
