Project Rally One prepares for WRC debut with new technical regulations
Belgian team Project Rally One is preparing for its debut in the World Rally Championship (WRC) under the new 2027 technical regulations. The team has already presented a prototype of its new generation WRC27 car, which is built on Rally2 technology.
Team principal Lionel Hansen has indicated that the team aims to compete in at least 10 rallies across the WRC and the Belgian Rally Championship. The goal is to enter two cars in the season opener in Monte Carlo in January 2027. To achieve this, the team is conducting extensive testing, including recent asphalt tests in France.
Regarding driver lineups, Hansen has identified French asphalt specialist Stephane Lefebvre and European champion Teemu Suninen as strong candidates. Suninen is expected to join the testing program in October to focus on gravel development. The team intends to have the car undergo the homologation process by November 1.
