The deadline for applications to the Petrobras Cultural 2026 selection closes at 18:00 (Brasília time) on Friday, 31 May. Petrobras will allocate R$ 270 million, funded through the Federal Incentive to Culture (Lei Rouanet) and the Audiovisual Law, across 11 sponsorship modalities. New categories this year include production of games and incubation/cultural development.

Fifteen percent of the total resources are reserved for each of Brazil’s five macro‑regions, amounting to roughly R$ 40.5 million per region. The programme requires that at least 25 % of the selected projects involve groups historically under‑represented in the arts, such as women, Black people, Indigenous peoples, quilombola communities, LGBTQIA+ persons and people with disabilities. The regulation was released on 1 May by Petrobras president Magda Chambriard. Milton Bittencourt, manager of Cultural Sponsorship at Petrobras, described the call as the largest public selection ever carried out by the company and in the country. Applications are free and must be submitted through the official digital platform.
