Promitheas Patras Giorgos Kalaitzakis Greek Basketball League basketball transfer NBA experience

Promitheas Patras has officially announced the signing of 27-year-old guard Giorgos Kalaitzakis to strengthen its perimeter line for the upcoming season. Kalaitzakis moves to Patras from Marousi, remaining in the Greek Basketball League (GBL).

Kalaitzakis brings significant international experience to the club, having previously played for Panathinaikos, where he won domestic titles. His career includes stints in Lithuania with Nevėžis and Lietkabelis, as well as time in Germany with Tigers Tübingen. Notably, he has experience in the NBA, having played for the Milwaukee Bucks (including the Wisconsin Herd in the G League) and the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he averaged 17.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3 assists.

The signing also reunites Kalaitzakis with coach Giorgos Vovoras, with whom he previously worked at Panathinaikos. Kalaitzakis was also the top scorer at the 2019 Eurobasket U20 tournament.
