Proper Storage Tips for Bread and Potatoes

Bread stays fresh longer when stored at room temperature in breathable containers such as paper or cloth bags, placed in a dry, cool spot away from heat sources. Refrigeration can alter texture, while airtight plastic can trap moisture and promote mold. For extended storage, freezing is recommended, allowing the loaf to be thawed and briefly reheated before use.

Potatoes remain fresh for months when kept in a dark, dry environment at 7‑13 °C with good ventilation. They should be transferred from shop packaging to a basket or cardboard box that allows air flow, and any damaged or sprouting tubers should be removed. Avoid exposure to light, high heat, or refrigeration, and store them away from onions or peppers, which emit ethylene that accelerates spoilage.
