Property disputes and construction fraud reported in Czech Republic
Two separate incidents involving property and construction issues have been reported in the Czech Republic.
A family building a new home near Prague has faced a construction halt after a neighbor blocked their only access road. The dispute began after the family started building a concrete fence, which the neighbor claimed encroached on his property. The neighbor subsequently placed a locked steel chain across the path, leaving the family unable to access their site despite having invested millions of koruna into the project.
In the Plzeň region, a 75-year-old senior was targeted by fraudulent craftsmen. After being approached on the street with an offer to replace a garage roof, a group of workers began removing the existing roofing without formal agreement. The victim was pressured into paying 140,000 CZK for materials that were originally valued at only 20,000 CZK. The workers reportedly prevented the man from inspecting the quality of the installation during the process.
