Protein-rich breakfasts linked to improved nutrition and reduced sugar cravings
A study conducted by researchers at the University of Texas at Austin, involving 128 young people aged 14–21, suggests that consuming a protein-rich breakfast can improve overall nutrient intake and reduce cravings for sugar and fat throughout the day. The findings, presented at the annual meeting of the American Society for Nutrition, followed participants across three groups: those eating high-protein breakfasts, those eating normal-protein breakfasts, and those skipping breakfast.
Nutrition experts also emphasize the importance of protein for older adults, specifically those over 60, to combat natural muscle loss and maintain bone density. High-protein options like Greek yogurt are recommended for their ability to provide calcium, support gut health through probiotics, and promote satiety to prevent blood sugar fluctuations.
