Protesters confront Kyrylo Budanov near Kyiv military site
Kyrylo Budanov, head of the President's Office, was met with insults and shouting from protesters in the village of Petropavlivska Borshchahivka near Kyiv. The unrest followed social media reports alleging that armed men were holding approximately 40 people in the basement of a private house, with claims of beatings and severe injuries to servicemen.
National Guard Commander Oleksandr Pivnenko clarified that the private house was being used as a temporary deployment point for mobilized personnel. He stated that soldiers pass through this location for inspections and processing before being sent to training centers. Authorities denied reports of illegal detention or any fatalities at the site.
The situation escalated as dozens, and eventually nearly 100, protesters gathered, leading to clashes, the throwing of stones, and damage to a National Guard bus. Police, National Guard command, and military ombudsman Olesya Reshetilova intervened to manage the situation and initiate an inspection.
