Protests erupt in Mexico over road access and healthcare shortages
Protests and roadblocks have emerged in different regions due to infrastructure and healthcare grievances. In San Pablo Etla, Oaxaca, residents of the Hacienda Blanca housing development blocked the Circuito Interior. The protesters are demanding that Mayor Raymundo Chagoya open a pending road access point, claiming the current lack of connectivity forces long detours and saturates surrounding roads. The municipal government has not yet issued a formal response to the blockade.
In Nezahualcóyotl, patients with renal failure blocked the Bordo de Xochiaca avenue to protest the suspension of hemodialysis services at the Hospital Gustavo Baz Prada. Demonstrators report that the service has been suspended due to equipment maintenance issues and a shortage of medical supplies. Families claim that IMSS-Bienestar has failed to provide necessary materials, and they noted that previous service interruptions this year have resulted in four deaths. The protest caused significant traffic disruptions in the area.
