Protests in Oradea and Timișoara over legal probes and mayoral conflict in Romania

In Oradea, a rally supporting Viorel Pașca was scheduled for the evening of 1 July 2026 in Piața Unirii. Organized by local activist Dan Craznic, the event aimed to show public backing for Pașca, who is under DIICOT investigation for alleged organized crime and continuous human‑trafficking activities linked to social centres in Bihor. Pașca denies the accusations, claiming his work is humanitarian, and about 350 people had expressed interest in attending.

Two days later, on 3 July 2026, the Partidul Umanist Social Liberal (PUSL) announced a protest in front of Timișoara City Hall, beginning at 17:00. The demonstration, under the slogan “Timișoara merită respect!”, demanded the resignation of Mayor Dominic Fritz after the Supreme Court confirmed a conflict of interest case involving him. PUSL representatives called for accountability and respect for legal integrity in public office.
