Proton launches 2026 S70 Lite and Prime variants

Proton has officially launched the 2026 S70 Lite and Prime variants, featuring a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre i-GT engine paired with a CVT featuring a torque converter. The new models are designed to offer a more relaxed driving experience compared to the existing turbocharged S70 lineup.

The launch follows significant consumer interest, with the company reporting over 10,000 bookings received within two weeks of opening orders. In Peninsular Malaysia, the 1.5 Lite variant is priced at RM59,800 and the 1.5 Prime at RM62,800 (on-the-road, excluding insurance), with prices in East Malaysia running RM2,000 higher. An early bird rebate of RM3,000 is available for customers who book and register by 31 December 2026, potentially bringing effective starting prices down to RM56,800 and RM59,800 respectively.

Safety features include six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a Rear Side Radar System with Blind Spot Detection, and a reverse camera. Connectivity options include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which are expected to be available from October 2026. The purchase includes a five-year unlimited-mileage warranty and six free labour services.
