Brazil implements Prova Nacional Docente 2026 for teacher selection
Brazil is implementing the Prova Nacional Docente (PND) 2026, a national assessment for teachers often referred to as the ‘Enem dos Professores’. The exam will be administered in over 800 municipalities across all states and the Federal District. It aims to establish a common quality standard for teacher selection, with results serving as a basis for public exams and selection processes organized by federal, state, and municipal governments.
The assessment includes a General Teacher Training component and a Specific Component covering 21 different subject areas. It targets both graduating students in licensure programs and already graduated professionals seeking to enter the public education system.
In conjunction with these efforts to professionalize teaching, the ‘Pé-de-Meia Licenciaturas’ program is offering monthly stipends of R$ 1,050 to eligible students in face-to-face licensure courses. To qualify, students must have achieved a score of 650 or higher on the Enem and be enrolled through programs such as Sisu, Prouni, or Fies. A portion of these funds is deposited into a savings account, accessible upon the student's entry into a public school teaching network within five years of graduation.
