Italian municipalities allocate millions of euros for school upgrades and public works

Local administrations across Italy are channeling significant public funds into health, education and infrastructure projects. The municipality of Gela earmarked €16 million for the design of a new regional hospital serving Gela, Niscemi, Mazzarino and Butera. In San Giorgio a Cremano, a €248 thousand PNRR training grant sparked a debate over possible conflicts of interest in its partnership selection. Recanati’s budget revision added €87 thousand for social services and €275 thousand from Centro Marche Acque to support minors and vulnerable groups.

School safety and renovation received major boosts: Perugia approved a €2.58 million seismic‑upgrade and energy‑efficiency programme for the Ignazio Silone primary school, while the Province of Prato allocated about €2 million from PNRR and €1.1 million of its own funds to improve fire‑prevention systems in four high schools. The municipality of Pamparato injected over €200 thousand into public‑building upgrades, digital transition and flood‑risk mitigation. Liguria obtained more than €5.8 million from the national cultural‑heritage plan for the ancient Luni archaeological park, the Camillo Sivori theatre and the San Giuliano abbey.

Additional local actions include €100 thousand for external area works at Ancona schools, €380 thousand for post‑earthquake repairs to schools in Naples, and ongoing park restorations in Reggio Emilia. Collectively, these investments aim to modernise facilities, enhance safety and stimulate regional development.
