Prudential Syariah engages students to boost sharia insurance inclusion

Prudential Syariah is engaging university students to develop solutions for expanding sharia insurance reach through a Business Proposal Competition at the Youth Innovation Festival 2026. Held at Universitas Islam Negeri Saizu and Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, the competition involves 13 student teams tasked with solving real-world industry case studies.

The initiative aims to address a significant gap in Indonesia's financial landscape. According to the 2026 National Survey of Financial Literacy and Inclusion (SNLIK), sharia financial literacy stands at 43.07%, while sharia financial inclusion is only 13.24%. This contrasts sharply with national financial literacy at 69.57% and inclusion at 93.61%.

By positioning young people as solution designers rather than just educational targets, Prudential Syariah seeks to drive growth and inclusion. The program aligns with the agenda of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to strengthen financial understanding among the younger generation, a demographic that plays an increasing role in the economy despite lagging financial readiness.
