PSD and PSB to lead Pernambuco Legislative Assembly in 2027

The Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco (Alepe) will see a shift in political power starting in 2027. The PSD and PSB have emerged as the largest blocs in the House, with each party electing nine state deputies.

The PSD is the party of re-elected Governor Raquel Lyra, while the PSB supported João Campos's candidacy for the governorship. Compared to the 2022 elections, the PSB increased its representation by two seats. Other notable party distributions include the PP with seven deputies, Podemos with six, and the PT with five.

Political scientist Bhreno Vieira noted that this new configuration may provide Governor Lyra with a more favorable environment for building a legislative majority than her first term, though he cautioned that party composition does not automatically dictate government or opposition alignments.
