Romania: AUR calls for early elections and files corruption complaints
In Romania, the AUR party, led by George Simion, has called for early elections, stating they will not support any government that excludes them from participation. Simion also announced that AUR is filing a complaint with the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) regarding alleged corruption within the SAFE program, comparing its management to the PNRR.
Separately, businessman Fănel Bogos appeared for questioning at the DNA Iași headquarters in an investigation involving allegations of blackmail and influence peddling. Bogos denied discussing financial matters with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and expressed his belief that the DNA has been “led down the wrong path.”
Other political developments include internal tensions within the PSD Gorj branch following public disagreements between Dragoș Drăghescu and Marcel Romanescu, and discussions in the Senate regarding the oversight of intelligence services' activity reports.
