PSOE demands explanations for 11-million-euro Guadalajara project

The Socialist Municipal Group (PSOE) in Guadalajara has demanded that Mayor Ana Guarinos urgently convene extraordinary neighborhood councils to explain a major infrastructure project near Plaza de la Antigua. The project, which critics have dubbed a ‘scalextric’, is estimated to cost between 10 and 11 million euros.

Lucía de Luz, the socialist spokesperson, characterized the project as a ‘waste’ that fails to address mobility needs or citizen demands. She argued that the funds should instead be directed toward essential services such as repairing sidewalks, maintaining city cleanliness, and addressing rodent infestations. Additionally, the group raised concerns regarding the environmental impact, specifically the loss of significant tree cover required for the project.

De Luz stated that if the Mayor does not call for these meetings, the Socialist Municipal Group will organize them independently to facilitate debate with residents.
