PSPV denounces price hike for protected housing in Valencia
The PSPV-PSOE has denounced a decision by the Valencian Consell to increase the price of protected housing. According to a resolution published in the Diari Oficial de la Generalitat Valenciana, the price per square meter for protected housing will rise by 7%, moving from 2,400 euros to 2,568 euros.
María José Salvador, a spokesperson for the Socialist Group, criticized the timing of the announcement, noting it was published on a Friday before a holiday period. She argued the move lacks transparency and sensitivity toward citizens struggling to access housing. Salvador stated that this is the second increase in less than two years, following a previous rise in December 2024.
The opposition claims the current administration's policies favor real estate developers and make protected housing inaccessible to middle-class families and young people, effectively turning it into housing for the wealthy.
