Paraíba reports surge in protective order breaches and feminicides in 2025

The 2026 Anuário Brasileiro de Segurança Pública shows that Paraíba experienced a sharp increase in several gender‑based violence indicators in 2025. Breaches of protective measures rose 18.7% to 1,666 cases, exceeding the national growth rate of 16.7% and yielding a state rate of 40 incidents per 100,000 residents, below the Brazilian average of 61.9. Feminicides climbed 37.8% to 36 deaths, accounting for 47.4% of all female homicides in the state, and none of the victims were under an active protective order at the time of the killings.

Psychological violence against women increased 41.2% to 715 reported victims, while stalking cases grew 39.3% to 2,147. Other crimes linked to gender‑based violence, such as bodily injury and sexual offenses, also rose. In response, the Training Academia in João Pessoa became the first private establishment to implement State Law 13.427/2024, placing informational posters in women’s restrooms to offer discreet help to those at risk.
