PT Dairi Prima Mineral launches 1 Mt/year underground tin‑zinc mine in Dairi, Indonesia
PT Dairi Prima Mineral (DPM) announced it will develop the Anjing Hitam underground tin (Pb) and zinc (Zn) mine in Dairi Regency, North Sumatra. The project received a revised feasibility study and an amendment to its Environmental Impact Analysis (AMDAL) approved for 2026, authorising a processing capacity of one million tonnes of ore per year.
Technical Manager Widianto reported that the Anjing Hitam prospect holds 8.5 million tonnes of ore with average grades of 13.8 % zinc and 7.9 % black tin, translating to about 7.7 million tonnes of reserves after conversion. A second prospect, Lae Jehe, contains larger tonnage but lower grades and will be explored later. DPM plans to use a long‑hole stoping and cut‑and‑fill underground method, back‑filling mined voids with treated tailings approved by the Ministry of Environment. The company noted that the mining licence (IPPKH) covering 53.11 ha remains valid until 2047, despite a 2024 Supreme Court ruling that temporarily revoked the AMDAL amendment before it was reinstated.
