PT KAI studies freight connectivity for Batang Industrial Estate

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is assessing ways to strengthen freight connectivity to and from the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KITB) in Java. The initiative aims to develop a more integrated logistics ecosystem by linking the industrial zone with dry ports, seaports, railway networks, warehousing, and trucking services.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba noted that efficient logistics networks are essential for connecting production centers with distribution hubs and ports. KAI intends to leverage its capacity for large-volume, long-distance transport. Between January and July 2026, KAI handled over 38.6 million tons of goods, including coal, containers, cement, fuel, and agricultural commodities.
