PT Semen Indonesia stabilizes Aceh cement supply and introduces new building technology
PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) has stabilized cement supplies in Aceh following a sharp surge in demand during July 2026. To address shortages and reduce truck queues, the company is maximizing production capacity at PT Solusi Bangun Andalas facilities in Lhoknga and Lhokseumawe, while also utilizing the PT Semen Padang packing plant in Malahayati and sending additional supplies from the Indarung factory.
SIG Corporate Secretary Vita Mahreyni stated that the company is monitoring stock and distribution daily to ensure timely delivery. Despite the increased demand, SIG has maintained consumer prices without hikes.
In a separate development regarding construction technology, SIG introduced Bata Interlock Presisi (BIP), an innovation designed for affordable, disaster-resilient housing. The technology allows for a type 36 house to be built in 21–30 days—roughly twice as fast as conventional methods—while potentially reducing construction costs by approximately 30 percent. The interlocking system is specifically designed to enhance structural integrity in earthquake-prone regions.
