Péter Magyar splashed with wine during Szekszárd festival visit
Hungarian politician Péter Magyar was splashed with wine by a man during a visit to the grape harvest festival in Szekszárd. The incident occurred while Magyar was standing in line at a food stall and interacting with local citizens.
Security personnel immediately intervened and removed the individual from the scene. Hungarian police subsequently detained a 53-year-old man in connection with the incident.
Magyar addressed the event on social media, describing the attacker as a ‘failed Orbán warrior’ who had allegedly consumed alcohol to gain the courage to act. He noted that the man appeared bothered by the positive atmosphere and the fact that Magyar was engaging with large crowds. Magyar concluded his remarks by jokingly lamenting the waste of ‘good Szekszárd wine’.
