PTI convenes emergency meeting over government mediation proposal

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has convened an emergency leadership meeting following a government proposal to defuse political tensions regarding the party’s planned long march. The proposal was communicated via Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who acted as a mediator after meeting with a government delegation including Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah and National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq.

While mediation efforts are underway, the government has issued a warning that it will not grant relief to Imran Khan if the PTI continues to apply pressure through protests or political campaigns. The government maintains that legal matters regarding the former prime minister must be handled according to the law, independent of political influence.

In a separate legal development, the Peshawar High Court has sought a response from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. The court notice follows allegations that state resources, including a government helicopter, were used for political activities related to the PTI long march.
