PTI Core Committee discusses long march failure and leadership changes
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Core Committee and Political Committee held a meeting to address recent political setbacks, including the failure of the party’s long march and the breakdown of negotiations with the government.
During the session, internal disagreements surfaced regarding the long march. Some leaders attributed the failure to a lack of planning and claimed that central leadership was not kept informed of certain decisions. Specifically, allegations were made against Sohail Afridi for failing to consult central and provincial leadership regarding the march plans. Other members reportedly held Mahmood Achakzai responsible for the failure of negotiations.
The committee also discussed the potential replacement of Mahmood Achakzai as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly. While proposals were made, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar stated that the final decision rests with the party founder.
To investigate these issues, the party has formed a fact-finding committee to examine the causes of the march's failure, the reasons behind the stalled negotiations, and matters related to party funding. An additional meeting has been scheduled to determine the party’s future strategy.
