PTI leaders clash over long march strategy and internal planning

Internal divisions have emerged within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) following a recent core committee meeting. Party leaders reportedly engaged in heated exchanges regarding the failure of a recent long march and the party’s overall political strategy, particularly following the imposition of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Some committee members criticized Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi for his planning and alleged that he kept leadership uninformed about protest plans. Other leaders, such as Taimur Jhagra, argued that while there were shortcomings, Afridi should not be held solely responsible. Concerns were also raised regarding inadequate preparations for workers, including lack of accommodation and low turnout in areas like Mardan.

The parliamentary party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has expressed reservations about the political committee formed by Salman Akram Raja, advocating for decisions to be made through broader consultation. Additional proposals discussed include the reactivation of the core committee established by founder Imran Khan and the return of Barrister Saif to an active role within the party.
