PTI long march reaches Peshawar as protesters move through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march, led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, reached Peshawar on October 8. Originally intended to head toward Islamabad to demand the release of jailed party founder Imran Khan, the convoy is currently moving through various districts within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the revised schedule, the march will travel to Charsadda on October 9, Mardan on October 10, and Swabi on October 11. PTI leadership plans to decide the next course of action after the stop in Swabi. While the party remains open to negotiations, previous attempts between the government and PTI have failed due to disagreements over access to Imran Khan and regional security policies.

In an effort to resolve the impasse, PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan has contacted National Assembly Speaker Sardar Muhammad Ayaz Sadiq to request his mediation in resuming talks between the party and the federal government. Meanwhile, the federal government has criticized the protest, accusing the party of mobilizing supporters based on hatred and warning against any attempt to enter Islamabad.
