PTPN IV PalmCo Boosts Fire Patrols and AI Early‑Warning in Kalimantan
The long dry season driven by a strong El Niño event has produced haze across Kalimantan, with forest and land fires threatening air quality and local communities. In response, PTPN IV PalmCo – a sub‑holding of PTPN III operating in 12 districts across West, Central, South and East Kalimantan – has heightened patrols and launched a comprehensive fire‑mitigation program.
Director Jatmiko K. Santosa said the company warned all field teams before the season began, moved from reactive firefighting to preventive actions, and enforced a Zero‑Burning Policy among partners. PTPN IV PalmCo is also deploying an AI‑based early‑warning system linked to satellite hotspot monitoring, aiming to detect and isolate fire risks before they spread. The effort supports alerts from the regional disaster‑management agency (BPBD) and the national agency (BNPB) to protect the forest ecosystem and public health.
