PTPN IV PalmCo advances sustainability and energy transition initiatives
PTPN IV PalmCo is implementing several strategic initiatives focused on sustainability, social responsibility, and energy transition. The company has strengthened its early detection systems and field patrols in Kalimantan and Sumatra to mitigate the risk of forest and land fires, utilizing a dedicated monitoring dashboard to track hotspots.
In terms of social impact, PalmCo has provided social security assistance by paying BPJS Ketenagakerjaan insurance premiums for 550 vulnerable informal workers in West Kalimantan, covering the period from July to December 2026. This initiative covers workers in Sanggau, Landak, Pontianak, and Sintang.
Additionally, PTPN IV PalmCo, PT reNIKOLA Primer Energi, and PT Pertagas Niaga have entered into an agreement to utilize compressed biomethane gas (CBG). This project involves converting waste from eight palm oil mills into renewable energy, with an estimated investment of USD 45 million. Once fully operational, the facilities are projected to supply over 830,000 MMBtu of renewable energy per year, supporting Indonesia's low-carbon development goals.
