PTPN IV PalmCo environmental and energy transition efforts

PTPN IV PalmCo has initiated several environmental and safety measures across its Indonesian operational regions. In August 2026, the company launched a movement to plant 1.5 million trees in Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi, focusing on High Conservation Value areas like riverbanks to support national ecological recovery goals.

By September 2026, the company shifted focus toward fire prevention and mitigation during the dry season. Efforts in Sumatra and Kalimantan include strengthening early detection systems, increasing field patrols, and utilizing a Forest Fire Monitoring Dashboard to track hotspots.

Expanding its sustainability and social responsibility efforts, PalmCo has also addressed social welfare by paying BPJS Ketenagakerjaan insurance premiums for 550 vulnerable informal workers in West Kalimantan, covering the period from July to December 2026. This assistance extends to workers in Sanggau, Landak, Pontianak, and Sintang.

Furthermore, the company has moved toward energy transition through an agreement with PT reNIKOLA Primer Energi and PT Pertagas Niaga to utilize compressed biomethane gas (CBG). This USD 45 million project aims to convert waste from eight palm oil mills into renewable energy. Once operational, the facilities are projected to supply over 830,000 MMBtu of renewable energy annually, supporting Indonesia’s low-carbon development goals.
