Public consultations announced for waste management and urban impact in São Paulo

The Government of São Paulo, through the Secretariat of Environment, Infrastructure, and Logistics (Semil), has announced two public hearings scheduled for November 4 and 5 to discuss the revision of the State Solid Waste Plan (PERS). The virtual session will take place on November 4, while a physical meeting is set for November 5 at the Semil headquarters in São Paulo. The revised plan includes 38 goals across 13 themes, such as circular economy, reverse logistics, environmental education, and urban solid waste management.

In the municipality of São Sebastião, a public consultation is also underway regarding a draft complementary law to regulate Neighborhood Impact Studies (EIV). Residents have until November 6 to submit suggestions on the proposal, which aims to detail which developments require such studies and how impacts on infrastructure—including water, sewage, drainage, and traffic—will be analyzed and mitigated. The initiative seeks to promote sustainable urban development and transparency in municipal planning.
