Urban planning and environmental initiatives in São Paulo

The state and municipal governments in São Paulo are conducting various public consultations and initiatives focused on urban development and environmental management.

At the state level, the Secretariat of Environment, Infrastructure, and Logistics (Semil) announced public hearings for early November to discuss the revision of the State Solid Waste Plan (PERS). This plan covers 38 goals related to themes such as circular economy, reverse logistics, and urban solid waste management.

In the municipality of São Sebastião, efforts are underway to regulate Neighborhood Impact Studies (EIV) to mitigate infrastructure impacts from new developments. Additionally, the city is launching programs in collaboration with the Center for Integration of School-Enterprise (CIEE) to expand employment opportunities for local youth through apprenticeship and internship programs.

In Guarujá, the municipal government has scheduled a public hearing for late October to discuss revisions to the Sustainable Territorial Development Master Plan (PDDST), focusing on land use, environmental protection, and urban growth guidelines.
