Public fund management and infrastructure concerns reported in Mexico and Venezuela

In Veracruz, Mexico, the administration of Governor Rocío Nahle García is facing criticism regarding the management of public funds and administrative opacity. Concerns have been raised over the remodeling of the Government Palace, which has reportedly exceeded 60 million pesos without sufficient public documentation regarding contracts or expenditures. Additionally, financial issues have been identified at the Universidad Popular Autónoma de Veracruz (UPAV), and the state is considering using public resources to rescue a bankrupt sugar mill.

Simultaneously, workers at the “Dr. Rafael Lucio” High Specialty Center in Xalapa have reported a major shortage of medicines, surgical supplies, and basic medical equipment, highlighting a crisis in public health centers across the state.

In Timotes, Venezuela, local leader Luis Beltrán Pérez Montoya has denounced the lack of transparency in the budget allocated for pothole repairs in the Miranda municipality. Pérez Montoya criticized recent roadwork as superficial and temporary, failing to address the long-term deterioration of the road connecting Timotes to Mérida. He warned that the current state of the infrastructure poses risks to producers and transporters, especially with the onset of the rainy season.
