Public health authorities expand vaccination programs in Paraguay and Argentina

Health authorities in Paraguay have expanded the HPV vaccination program to include women aged 15 to 18. This measure aims to provide catch-up opportunities for those who missed the dose during the primary priority age. While the main target remains children aged 9 to 14 to ensure maximum effectiveness before virus exposure, the technical update also includes high-risk individuals up to age 45, such as people living with HIV, immunosuppressed patients, and survivors of sexual violence.

In Argentina, the province of Formosa is intensifying its vaccination efforts through community-based outreach. Health teams are conducting house-to-house visits and territorial approaches in neighborhoods, colonies, and communities to complete pending immunization schedules for all ages. This strategy, led by the Ministry of Human Development, seeks to strengthen preventive measures in vulnerable areas, particularly in response to potential health risks associated with the El Niño phenomenon.
