Global HPV vaccination program expansions
Overview
Public health authorities in several regions are expanding or proposing Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programs to increase coverage and prevent cancer.
In South America, Paraguay has expanded its HPV vaccination program to include women aged 15 to 18 as a catch-up measure, while also including high-risk individuals up to age 45, such as immunosuppressed patients. Concurrently, in the Argentine province of Formosa, health teams are conducting house-to-house visits in vulnerable neighborhoods to complete pending immunization schedules.
In the Caribbean and Southeast Asia, initiatives are also growing. Aruba is implementing a national school vaccination campaign for both male and female Grade 6 students to provide early protection against various cancers. In Davao City, Philippines, a proposed ordinance seeks to institutionalize an HPV vaccination program for female city government employees following data showing high interest but incomplete dosage rates among staff.
